“It shall be the duty of the Committee to act on behalf of all Chemist Contractors and to consult with the Ministry of Health & Social Services and Central Services Agency, and each of the four Area Health & Social Services Boards, or any other bodies in relation to all matters arising out of the operation of the Health Services. The Committee shall have the power to appoint Sub-Committees and the convenors of Sub-Committees shall act as Chairman at their meetings. The Chairman and Vice Chairman shall be “ex-officio” members of all Sub-Committees”.
Under Article 55 of the Health and Personal Social Services (NI) Order 1972, “where the Ministry (Department) is satisfied after consultation with the Health & Social Services Board concerned and the Agency, that a local committee formed for the area of any Health & Social Services Board or Boards is representative of the persons providing pharmaceutical services in the area the Ministry may recognise that committee”.
